KriolBook is an independent digital bookstore dedicated to the language, history, and culture of Cape Verde. Our goal is simple and essential: to transmit Cape Verdean Kriolu with pride, clarity, and modernity. We believe that every word, every expression, every proverb is a fragment of identity. Learning Kriolu means keeping this heritage alive.
Through illustrated, interactive e-books available in several languages, we offer a progressive method accessible to everyone: travelers, diaspora members, children of immigrants, language enthusiasts, teachers, or curious passers-by.
KriolBook does not just teach a language. It transmits a memory, a way of life, a way of thinking unique to the Cape Verdean people: between land and sea, between Africa and Europe, between roots and migration.

Kriolu is not uniform. Each island, each region, each family adds its own color to it.
At KriolBook, we use ALUPEC (Unified Alphabet for Writing Cape Verdean Creole) as the main basis for learning Cape Verdean Creole as a whole.
This choice allows us to offer clear, consistent, and understandable writing for everyone, regardless of their level or island of origin.
As Cape Verdean Creole is a living language, there are naturally variations according to the islands and local usage.
That's why we also include examples from different islands such as Santiago, São Vicente, Fogo or Santo Antão, to illustrate differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, and expressions.
These variants are always presented and explained clearly, to enable learners to recognize and adapt to the different forms of Kriolu, in Cape Verde and in the diaspora.
Our goal is simple: to enable everyone to speak Cape Verdean Creole authentically, while respecting the rich linguistic diversity of the archipelago.
Our approach is simple, clear, structured, and rooted in the reality of daily life in Cape Verde. Learning Kriolu with us also means discovering the history of the archipelago, its music (morna, funaná, batuco), its proverbs, its cuisine, its emblematic figures, and its values.

Who are we?
KriolBook was founded by Isau Almeida, son of Cape Verde and a child of the diaspora. Coming from two islands, raised between cultures, he grew up with this conviction: a language that is not transmitted is a language that disappears.
Through this project, he wishes to restore Kriolu to its rightful place: in schools, in homes, on screens, in the mouths of young and old alike.
KriolBook is a bridge between generations, between the islands and the diaspora, between memory and the future.
